Ministry Administrator
Melinda joined Birthmothers in December 2009 and is responsible for the ministry’s administrative support.
Melinda has used her excellent administrative and organizational gifts working with several social service agencies and as an advocate for children. Most recently, she served as Prevention Program Manager for Safeplace, Inc., a domestic violence shelter in northern Alabama, where she presented child abuse prevention programs to over 1,500 students in 100 schools and helped train educators, medical personnel, clergy, and law enforcement officials in domestic violence prevention. She has also worked with Colbert County (AL) Department of Human Resources as a Foster Parent Trainer, as a coordinator for Colbert County (AL) Children’s Council, and in emergency support on a parenting hotline for divorced parents. Melinda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Athens State University (Athens, AL).
Melinda’s experience as a parent to two of her own biological children, foster parent to five children, and adoptive parent to two has created a special place in her heart for birth moms. “Parenting of any kind – whether as a birth parent or raising a child – is a high calling,” says Melinda. “It’s a privilege to serve in a ministry that equips women to choose life.”
